Texas Workforce Commission Selects SkillsNET to Enhance O*NET Detailed Work Activities Library for Critical Cluster Occupations. WAXAHACHIE, TX June 3, 2008 - The Texas Workforce Commission announced today SkillsNET won the competition to enhance and align O*NET Detailed Work Activities (DWA’s) to Governor Perry’s statewide 200 critical occupations. SkillsNET’s extensive pedigree with the O*NET Content Model and its innovative SkillObject® technology to define work, worker and workplace characteristics differentiated SkillsNET from the competition. SkillsNET’s leadership and technical advisory board members have a combined total of 96 years experience in occupational classification, organizational cultural analysis, skill standards and workforce development systems. SkillsNET will leverage its capability and experience to enhance the DWA statements and improve the alignment to key occupations. SkillsNET will validate and enhance the DWA statements and create new DWA statements as necessary to reflect work in the 200 critical occupations. SkillsNET will consider newly emerging technologies, tools and equipment, and evolving business practices as part of the evaluation process. These objectives will be met via SkillsNET’s Activityware™ tools and a series of statewide meetings led by the local workforce boards and key industry SME’s and C-Managers. The meetings will be used to review and update DWA statements and establish performance indicators. “The State of Texas is an innovator in large scale workforce development systems,” Michael Brown, SkillsNET CEO said. “Enhancing the DWA’s will be of great benefit to the employers in Governor Perry’s economic clusters and the State’s Labor Market Information (LMI) system.” Texas employers wishing to participate should contact SkillsNET!
