SkillsNET to Validate Manufacturing and Distribution Workforce Certification (MDWC) WAXAHACHIE, TX January 10, 2008 - The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) has announced the selection of SkillsNET to update and validate the Manufacturing and Distribution Workforce Certification (MDWC) Core Level 1 series. The Texas Engineering Service is a Texas state agency dedicated to serving, training, and responding to the need of the state and SkillsNET is an international provider of work-base certifications. The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) proposes to assist entry level manufacturing and distribution workers by developing a certification program by which those workers can obtain credit for their accumulated knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s). SkillsNET was selected to help design a plan to develop a two-tier core certification which applies across job categories. Additionally, specialty certification may be obtained to closely match requirements of manufacturing and distribution industries. This certification program is based on nationally recognized standards published by the U.S. Department of Labor. These standards were developed through surveys of companies throughout the United States and represent the collective work of several years of development. SkillsNET will help TEEX maintain its’ leadership role in Texas by developing this plan and providing leadership to many state funded initiatives in community colleges and workforce development. SkillsNET’s experience in local, regional, and national certification planning will be used to help TEEX develop a validation and industry acceptance plan. Contact SkillsNET today to learn more about its workforce certification services.About SkillsNET
