AJLA Selects SkillsNET® Skill Statements for Inclusion in Product Lines

SkillsNET's partnership with the America's Job Link Alliance (AJLA), a nationwide alliance of state workforce agencies, has enabled AJLA to use skill statements from SkillsNET's own National SkillObject Library (NSOL) for job search applications, according to Michael Brown, CEO.

The AJLA, created to enable participating state workforce agencies to jointly develop and share core workforce development-centric information technology solutions, has worked in conjunction with selected agencies to produce web-based products such as America's Joblink (AJL), America's ServiceLink (ASL), America's Workforce System (AWS), OASIS, DART and SAMS. States with participating workforce agencies currently include Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Vermont, Idaho, Missouri and New Mexico. AJLA and SkillsNET formed their strategic partnership in 2001.

While AJLA products actively use information provided by O*NET (The Occupational Information Network), they have replaced O*NET's Tasks with SkillsNET's NSOL skill set, which are modified O*NET task statements. This has enabled AJLA products such as the Joblink resume builder application to use shorter, more precise task statements consisting of only one action verb or single noun per statement, Brown said.

AJLA is one of three job search application providers - America's Job Bank (AJB) and America's One Stop Operating System (AOSOS) being the other two - that leverage selected content from O*NET.

About SkillsNET
SkillsNET provides a revolutionary tool suite and consulting service, which allows enterprises to rapidly capture work, worker, and workplace skill data elements (SkillObjects®) and their relationship to performance. The SkillsNET methodology allows employers to capture their workforce environment through web-based applications with minimal worker and capital investment. Highly trained Skills Analysts and Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, available on-site or via phone, assist the employee and employer through the data collection process. At the end of the process, employers receive a detailed analysis of the skill base required in their workforce, the level of skill in the current workforce, and the performance standards needed to operate in today's dynamic environment. SkillsNET methodology is aligned with the Department of Labor O*NET taxonomy. For additional information please visit www.skillsnet.com.
