AACE to Include SkillsNET® Presentation on Use of SkillObjects® in the European Union

Privately held Waxahachie, Texas-based company focused on human capital management is making itself a prominent presence within the European Union and Greek teachers will soon get the benefit of this unique collaboration.

Waxahachie, TX March 16, 2006

SkillsNET's Dr. Lee Ann Rikard and Dr. Jill Strange, along with European Union partner Nikitas Kastis, will be among the speakers at the June 2006 conference of the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE), according to Michael Brown, SkillsNET CEO.

They will present an overview of the much-heralded collaboration of SkillsNET and the MENON network to implement SkillObjects across the European Union (EU), an endeavor organized by the Lambrakis Foundation, an Athens, Greece-based research and development institute and partner in the MENON network.

The presentation, titled "ICT Professional Development for EU Teachers Contributes to Global Competency", will highlight SkillsNET's goal of using SkillObjects within the Greek educational system.

"The collaboration of SkillsNET and the Lambrakis Foundation will initially serve as a test case for designing a Job Profile in the European Union utilizing Job Profiler. Every six months, over 50 teachers complete the EPICT program, making it a good source for the subject matter experts necessary to collect job data" Brown noted. "When teachers enter the program, they will be directed to complete Job Profiler based on general primary and secondary schoolteacher data from the National SkillObject Library®. The process would be initially utilized to develop a job description of primary and secondary school teachers in Greece." The AACE, founded in 1981 and headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, is an international, educational and professional not-for profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the knowledge, theory, and quality of learning and teaching at all levels within information technology. According to the AACE website, this advancement is achieved "through the encouragement of scholarly inquiry related to information technology in education, and the dissemination of research results and their applications through publications, conferences, societies and chapters, and inter-organizational projects. Worldwide membership is comprised of researchers, developers, and practitioners in schools, colleges, and universities; administrators, policy decision-makers, trainers, adult educators, and other specialists in education, industry, and the government."
